Funeral Director
In loving memory of Russell Hammond who sadly passed away on 15th September 2023:
My "little" brother passed away on Friday (15/09/2023) at the age of 57.
Russell has had his health problems over the years and following a recent hospital stay seemingly had this under control.
He was found by neighbours peacefully sitting in a chair almost as if he was doing what he liked best watching a film or some obscure TV programme that he would write about on here from time to time.
The neighbours I spoke to have all said they will miss his laughing - he could be heard in his flat watching some comedy probably whilst they were walking down the street!
Russell, loved his Film, Music and books, and could usually be found most free days - at the Odeon cinema (sometimes going for a marathon 4 films in a day - he said to me it was cheaper than putting the heating on!!!
He was our very own "Barry Norman" (google that name if you don't understand!).
Now if he wasn't there in the Odeon the Library would be another place that was frequented - in particular to annoy Atilla the Librarian! (you know who you are !!), only in jest - they would share a spoons breakfast or carvery almost monthly ( a monthly Hinge and Bracket meeting where they were main protagonists !!).
He liked to help, and support with encouragement friends in their endeavours in the music, comedy and acting professions, many kind words and comments from those he touched and reached out to over the years can be seen on social media and in the cards we have received.
His likes and dislikes!!
Likes (all things that are bad for him!):
Nutella
Sausages
Cheese
Rum ( Kraken and Captain Morgan's)
Dislikes
Cabbage / Greens (stories to be told at funeral ( if I remember)
People on phones / talking in Cinema
Spiders (colleagues at Hamelin Trust)
Russell walked everywhere never wanted to drive something to do with how people drive when he was a passenger!
Thankyou ALL for being his friends and support network over the years we / I very very much appreciate and value you as I know he did.
Sweet dreams little brother - RIP
