Alan Humphreys (9 Jul 1948 - 4 Sep 2023)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of Alan Humphreys who sadly passed away on 4th September 2023
Alan was born in Nottingham on the 9th of July 1948 to Dot, who worked at Boots, and Bartholomew, known to everyone as Bob, who was a wheeltrue at Raleigh, and he was eventually to become big brother to Linda
The family moved to the new estate in Clifton and after leaving Farnborough Comprehensive School Alan followed in his mother’s footsteps and began working at Boots where he met Chris. The couple married on the 28th of February 1970 at St Patrick’s church in Nuthall. They set up home in Kimberley where three years later Paul was born. After a move to Awsworth the family was completed when Mark was born in 1975
Alan then, in 1983, went on to become a coach driver, which he loved. He much preferred continental runs going to places such as Italy and Germany and taking advantages of activities such as skiing while he was there
Chris and Alan’s marriage didn’t last, ending in divorce in 1986, and with the boys staying with their mum. Alan did find love again with Cheryl, who he was with for 25 years
He continued his passion for travel and would travel around the country to see various famous or historically significant trains, also visiting railway heritage sites to ride on steam engines
Alan’s health deteriorated and for the last three years he received dialysis treatment in Ilkeston. When his time came, Alan had been in Nottingham City Hospital
