In loving memory of Peter Roy Noon of Staverton, who sadly passed away on 27th October 2015, after a short illness at Northampton General Hospital. He was 86 years old. He was predeceased by his wife, Ada Noon.
.
Brother to John (Jack) and Len (Eddie) - Peter was the youngest remaining son of Leonard and Elsie Noon, also of Staverton. Peter was born in Staverton, where he went to school before attending Daventry Grammar School. A keen sportsman, as a youth he played cricket for the local team. After completing his national service in the Royal Air Force he returned to Staverton and married Molly Smith of Daventry. They had three children Leigh, Roy and Julie. The family moved to the north of the county where Peter worked for British Sealed Beams in Corby.
Peter later remarried and moved to Daventry, working for Cummins before his retirement. A modest, talented and active man, Peter did not take kindly to the retired life and was soon back in work for DSO in Daventry, or as a relief postman in the village. Peter moved back to his native home of Staverton where he took possession of a large garden, which he kept well stocked with potatoes, strawberries, shallots, tomatoes and marrows. Ultimately succumbing to retirement, Peter remained fully active by volunteering for a local charity, often walking into Daventry to do so, working on his garden, and making full use of his travel pass.
Peter will be much missed by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will take place at Rainsbrook Crematorium, Rugby on Thursday 12th November at 12 noon. Family flowers only. Please feel free to make a donation to the charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
A private internment for immediate family and close friends will take place later at Welton Road Cemetery, Daventry.
Many thanks for all those who attended the services and who have supported the family through this difficult time.
Thanks also for your donations to MacMillan Cancer Support, which amounts to £351.75
