Eddie Pauley (24 Sep 1949 - 22 Aug 2023)

Edward Morley Pauley, better known as Eddie to most in the room but also know as a husband, son, brother, dad, grandad, great grandad, uncle and cousin.

Eddie was born on 24th September 1949 to parents Edward and Lily in Glasgow, Scotland. Eddie was a proud man, he shy’d away from showing weakness and this dated back to when he was a child. Eddie and his brother John were walking to school when Eddie tripped and fell in front of a bus. The bus ran over his hand and his mother rushed to his side to see how he was. His reaction was ‘I won’t cry, if you don’t mum’.

He grew up with his five siblings, John, Betty, Raymond, Marie and Jackie in Glasgow. He was very protective when it came to his sisters, where he helped with life development moments and fighting off bullies. But Eddie flew the nest and made the move to London at 15 years old.

On moving to London he lived in Earls Court, where on one disco night in the pub. A young lady sat on his lap after a short discussion and he told that lady that one day he’d marry her. A man of his word was Eddie and he married Anne back in Scotland on 30th December 1969. The pair were married until his last breath and raised a family together where they first had Sharon followed by Jackie. Before the four of them moved down to London since that day.

Not only was it the four them but Eddie’s mother and sister also made the big move to the big city. After a few years in West London Eddie moved South of the river to beautiful Peckham where Eddie managed the Globe pub. While living in Peckham he changed career to be a postman which was his occupation for 20+ years.

Eddie loved a night at the pub, he was the centre of a party and loved a bitter or two. He really was the definition of a Jack the lad. Many of his years he’d be joking, messing about and just anything for a good time.

The first two grandchildren were born, Bradley and Zac, who were raised by Anne and Eddie then they moved to Bermondsey. Further grandchildren were born and after the final move to Beckenham his great grandchildren were born also. Many a happy memory was shared with family in this home and he was loved by all around him.

Eddie was a massive football fan where he followed Glasgow Celtic and Millwall. He would watch the football all weekend and barely missed a game. For the people that really knew Eddie, he was real, he was kind and he was a very down to earth man. He will be missed dearly
