  • It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of HOWARD MARSHALL; Calne town Mayor in 2009 and 2015. Howard was an avid supporter of the Bike Meet, with his involvement stretching back into the days of the Rotary club. Without his efforts the committee would not be what it is today. It was Howard who called for the initial meeting to create the Calne Bike Meet Committee in 2012, this action saved the Bike Meet and without him it is unlikely there would have been a 2013 event. Even once the new committee was formed he was present helping us in our first couple of years. He was the Jedi Master of Calne Bike Meet! Howard was also a keen musician, often found around the band stage or with a guitar in hand. He will be very much missed and our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends.

Just to let everyone know that there will be a get together after the funeral to celebrate Howard's life at Calne Town Hall, 2-6pm, Wednesday 20th. We are hoping that some of his musician friends will provide some music so do join us for a cuppa or something stronger. All welcome. X

  • It is with great sadness we announce the death of Howard Marshall. Howard was Calne Town Mayor in 2009 and 2015, former Town Councillor and a Wiltshire Councillor. He was involved in so many things within the town, including the boxing club, the skate park and the bike meet. He was a valued colleague who will be sadly missed. Apart from his work with local community groups Howard was a keen musician and in particular loved to play within a group. Howard and his wife Alison were also members of Calne Larks. We know you will join with us in sending our deepest condolences to Howard's family.
