Terry Forsdyke was our first born a delightful quirky child who developed into a thoughtful and funny man who genuinely didn't realise how popular he was.
Terry was an active and enthusiastic member of 1st Stowmarket Scout Group and was proud of attaining the Chief Scout’s Award and he completed the Chief Scout’s Challenge in 1997. which included a camping and cycling expedition along the Norfolk coast from Kings Lynn and ending in Lowestoft and completed a project on lighthouses en route. This was no mean feat for a chap suffering from Cerebral Palsy, who paediatricians claimed would never have sufficient balance to ride a bike let alone cycle that kind of distance. He enjoyed the usual scouting pursuits such as camping and was an avid collector of scout badges. He was unstoppable when playing British Bulldog, his favourite game - he locked both his legs and dragged the entire scout troop from one end of the hall to the other.
Terry left school and eventually went to college and qualified in IT and worked for several companies including Stowmarket High School, Suffolk County Council and BUUK who all thought highly of him particularly as he never embarrassed anyone and some people posed some really fundamental IT problems. "OK so you have plugged the computer in, good, now look at the plug which position is the switch?"
He loved Sci-fi and in particular, Star Wars and Star Trek and was renowned for his tutorials on light sabres. He and his brothers and cousins took the sabres to the playing field in Onehouse on dark evenings and fought with the brightly coloured lights - quite a sight in the dark.
Prior to COVID Terry was a keen cyclist, loved gardening, photography, reading and intricate model making, his later models were specialist Japanese imports with 4,000+ pieces - he had never learned Japanese!
Terry’s humour was dry, but like his siblings his mind and wit were sharp. Our family home was full of laughter, when all the siblings are together it is easy to become breathless and punch drunk with the rapid fire humour.
We miss you x
