Joy Alford (June 1963 - July 2023)
It is with heavy hearts and love that we announce the passing of Joy Alford, a beloved woman who touched the lives of many. Joy passed late July at the age of 60, leaving behind many cherished memories and a legacy of love.
Joy was born in Lanark in June 1963, and moved to England in her early adult life. She always had a huge fondness and love for Scotland, where her father and sisters lived. She radiated warmth, compassion and a contagious joy to all that she held dear. She was a woman of remarkable character and had an indomitable spirit that always drove her throughout her life, no matter the hardships.
As a devoted mother, Joy's children, Michael, Karina, and Jordan, were the light of her life. She had an unwavering love and dedication to her children and their spouses no matter life's ups and downs. She was able to witness the marriage of all three of her children and spend time with all her grandchildren.
Joy found immense happiness in being a grandmother to Daniella, Chase, and Robin. She adored her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. Her laughter and love filled their lives with happiness, and they will forever hold fond memories of their times together.
Joy had a close bond with her sisters, who were more like lifelong friends. They shared a special sisterhood, supporting each other through thick and thin. Their bond was a source of strength and comfort throughout Joy's life.
In times of adversity, Joy found solace and support from Macmillan, an organisation that provided her with invaluable help during a challenging period in her life. In her memory, the family kindly requests that any donations be made to Macmillan, ensuring that her legacy continues to touch the lives of others.
The funeral service to celebrate Joy's life will be held on the 23rd of August at 3 pm at St James Church, Devizes, SN10 3AA, a place of solace and reflection. Following the service, a warm and welcoming wake will be held at The Wyvern, situated next door to the church. This gathering will be a time to remember Joy's life, share stories, and find strength in the love of family and friends.
Joy Alford will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her boundless love, courage, and unwavering dedication to her family. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory live on in the hearts of all those she touched.
Rest in peace, dear Joy.
