Unbelievably on the 21st of July my incredibly healthy Dad passed away following a sudden heart attack on the Monday before. To say his passing is a shock is the understatement of the year, Dad was so health conscious, hardly drank, didn’t smoke and would always be up and about keeping active. An incredible by stander found Dad and performed CPR on him getting his heart beat back and he spent the next five days on intensive care where the drs did the same. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, Dads brain had sustained too much damage during his first heart attack and he was unable to wake up. He was the kindest man and everyone who met him liked him instantly, he was always smiling and was so so kind. So kind in fact that even after dying he continues to help people, I’m so proud to say that my Dad donated his organs to save the lives of people he hadn’t even met and in that final act of kindness I’m hoping in time this will provide us all with some comfort to know he lives on still.

Thank you all for your kindness, thoughts and love during this unbelievable time we are all facing. We’ve found so much comfort in your words and memories of Dad, finding out he was referred to as ‘muscle Colin’ is something that’s made us laugh and nod in agreement that Dad would have loved that!
We are holding dads funeral on the 15th of August at 14:00 at Gedling crematorium Catfoot Lane, Lambley. He will be leaving the family home at 13:30 and followed by anyone who would like to do so. We are hoping that there will be a procession of bikers following Dad as he loved to ride his motorbike, if you’d like to join us with that could you rendezvous on Collyer Road where it meets Bucklee Drive in Calverton before 13:30, one of Dads friends will be able to direct you from there.
There’s no dress code at all for the funeral, come in whatever you’re comfortable in, plants are preferred over flowers which you can give to mum to plant in Dads garden or take home to remember him in yours. We will be arranging drinks after the funeral and we are waiting to confirm the location of this depending on the number expected for the funeral so if you will be attending please drop me a message and we can make this final arrangement.
Thank you all again for everything, I know we haven’t been great at keeping in touch or replying to you but it is such a comfort to know that you’re there for when we are ready xxx
