Ian Michael Litherland Bell (13 Nov 1948 - 15 Jul 2023)

I worked with ian whilst he was at Wakefield. Ian was an absolute gent in every sense of the word & always made me feel appreciated. He is the only person I know who shares my birthday. A true Scorpio. He will be sadly missed

It is some years since we last met Ian due to living at opposite ends of the country. However, we valued his determination to keep in touch with family through his annual Christmas card. He really will be missed.

Ian, a giant of a man in many ways, always available to assist in whatever troubled you. He will never know how helpful he was to me, I will always be in his debt for his undying faith . Rest now Ian, you have earned it .

Ian was simply one of life’s good guys who I am a better person for knowing.

Ian, my big bear Cuz you have always been in the background of my life through the good times and bad I will miss you so very much.

So sorry for your loss Jo. Ian was a true gentleman and you both were fantastic neighbours. You will be greatly missed Ian.

We hadn’t known Ian that long, we’d just moved in to the area and were greeted by two fabulous people who made us feel so welcome. I don’t think you need to know someone a lifetime to know what character they are and Ian was without a doubt a lovely gentle kindhearted man who we will miss.

We were mates in the mid sixties, and although we lost touch for a few years, we had some great times, sailing in the Greek islands just one of them. Miss you mate. Pete

Happy riding on the heavenly highways and byways Ian…… you recce the routes and I’ll join you when I land.

Only knew ian for around 8 years and looked forward to our bike night chats , a smashing bloke and a gentleman

Ian I only met you a few times but seen the write up from the police which you were a credit to the service and a very successful career but I think your biggest success was marrying Jo and making her so happy.

A fantastic colleague to work with and such good fun as PSU instructors. Set fire to each other weekly. Serious on the outside….but it was only hiding the many laughs and japes.
