In loving memory of our Doreen Mary Smith, beloved Mum, Nan and Great Nanny (Lulu) and who passed away on 29th June 2023.
She always loved spending time with her family and had such a wicked sense of humour. Even in the latter years when she suffered dementia, her face would light up whenever she saw us.
She was a big animal lover (loving cuddles and strokes with many of the family dogs) and would always play great games with the grand children and great grand children. From crawling through make shift tunnels (airers covered in blankets!) to trips to London to picnicking in Danbury to crabbing at the seaside, there wasn't anything she wouldn't do to entertain and spend time with her family.
During the war, she was evacuated Matching Green where she stayed with an Aunt with a glass eye! Since then we looked forward to the annual family trip to Matching at Christmas.
Nan was always a great cook and baker, making her infamous sticky toffee puddings for big family dinners. She was known as 'five star dots' to anyone that stayed at her house, giving any hotel a run for their money!
She will be so missed. Her smile and her laugh always lit up a room.
The funeral is at Southend crematorium on 17th August 2023 at 2.40pm, wake details to be confirmed.
