David George Goodwin (24 Apr 1955 - 4 Jul 2023)

Worked with Dave at Newcastle United. Wonderful man. Knowledgeable, funny, family man. I will miss him. RIP Dave. Thanks for the memories

I lost contact with my old school pal Dave from Catford Boys around 1973. I used to accompany him to Park Radio Hither Green Hospital and assist him with his Dee jaying! I did manage to find him on Facebook just a year before he passed away and exchanged messages.
Rest easy Dave. You were a shining diamond of a man ! x

I’m so sad to hear this news, Dave spotted me as a 15 year old when he was at Croydon, he thought very highly of me as I did of him, I remember him and his wife used to drive us to games and the journeys were great, and was I so gutted when he left Croydon for bigger things. I will always remember him calling me ‘fella’ my thoughts go out to all his family. Rest in Peace Dave, I will never forget you. 🕯️

Dave was my football coach at Addey and Stanhope school in the 80's. A genuine and good man, who treated his students with honesty, respect and only ever worked to bring the best from them. Due to a private situation, he also helped me personally through one of the toughest situations of my life. Iiterally wouldn't be here without him. I could never have repaid his kindness, wisdom and honesty. The world got a little darker with his leaving.

I can only explain and remember Dave as a football man, a gentleman with extensive knowledge and experience. Dave helped and guided me in my infancy within District and Professional football, it took me to the very top and Dave played a massive part in my development that I will never forget. Sleep tight my friend, you helped and guided so many people within, life, education and football.

A legend that helped so many people fulfil there dreams ❤️🙏🏽
