In loving memory of Uda Joan Stringer who sadly passed away on 23rd June 2023

Uda Joan Stringer was born on the 1st April 1930. Her parents were the industrious and ever loyal Jack, and the entrepreneurial Sarah Anney. She was their second child, her siblings being her elder brother John Gordon, and her younger sister Rita.

After completing her schooling, Uda graduated from teacher training college, and subsequently spent over 40 years teaching in infant schools, and in doing so, helped over a thousand children to learn how to read, write and to do maths.

She married Eric in 1958 and they had three sons, Michael, Peter and Alan. Sadly Eric died in 2012.

Until she retired in 1990, her busy life left her little time for hobbies, apart from one, which was her passion for gardening. Following her retirement in 1990 she and her late husband Eric spent their time travelling the world and the UK.

Uda leaves behind her three sons, her seven grandchildren, and her one great granddaughter.

In her lifetime, Uda lived through five monarchs, one abdication, eight popes, 20 Olympic Games, one World War, the creation of the NHS, the rise of the Berlin Wall, the fall of the Berlin Wall, Britain entering the European Union, Britain leaving the European Union, Man go into space, Man land on the moon, the invention of the calculator, the invention of the mobile phone, the invention of the computer, and the invention of the Internet …… and of course a pandemic.

Uda Stringer - a life well lived, a life well loved, and a woman greatly loved and admired by all that knew her.
