I still remember the first day I met you, taking me to the shop and you telling me how I held your hand. From that day forward you were a prominent, loyal and loving uncle to me, and I still can’t really believe you’ve gone.
Through my years in school I recall the trips you took me on to the base to go to the fire station, teaching me to swim and exposing me at an early age to Snoop Dogg! I also once recall how blasé you were when you came in to extinguish a grill pan fire that Nicola May or may not have caused!
I remember that you were there for me when I struggled with bullies, showing me how to stand up for myself. No problem I ever shared with you was too big or too small, and you always made time, no matter what. That meant so much more to me than you’d ever know.
You were always a fighter, and my goodness did you fight until the very last day. You were taken from us way too soon. The joy you brought, the love and the loyalty you gave, and the time you had for everyone; they will never, ever be forgotten; you will never, ever be forgotten. Rest up, uncle John xxxxx
