In loving memory of Geoff Brettell who sadly passed away at home on 16th June 2023 shortly before his 78th Birthday.
Geoff will be sadly missed by his wife Patricia, children Katherine & Timothy & his remaining brothers Chris & Stan as well as his sister in laws Barbara, Lynne & Sue, in addition to the extended family & friends (especially the Barnwell Drivers).
Geoff had battled with kidney disease for many years and was cared for by Mum (Pat) with support from the Renal Unit at Southend Hospital as he recieved peritoneal dialysis. For this reason, the family would really like to suggest that donations are made to the Renal unit rather than sending flowers if possible.
Dad's funeral will be held on Tuesday 11th July at 10.30 at Basildon Crematorium, Church Road, Basildon, SS13 2HG.
We will leave from our home in Hockley and go back to our home afterwards to celebrate Dad's life and be together at this sad time.

Dear Pat, Katherine and Tim,
I was so sorry to hear that lovely Geoff had passed away. He was such a gentle giant and brought a lot of support and comfort to my dad when mum passed away. Mum and Dad enjoyed many good times with The Barnwell Drivers and neighbourly BBQs. I will always remember Geoff's laughter, he would throw his head back and really give a good laugh, enjoying the moment!
Sadly I can't be there to show my respects to him as difficult to get cover as a teacher, however we are having a Science day and I have organised one of the activities to be growing sunflowers in Geoff's honour. Every child will take home a sunflower seed and I will plant some around the school grounds. As they grow, they will be a symbol of Geoff, a warm gentle giant with a lovely heart.
