Albert Lacy (8 Jun 1938 - 29 May 2023)

In loving memory of Albert Lacy who sadly passed away on 29th May 2023.

Al was dearly loved and will be deeply missed, but we will forever cherish his memory. He is now reunited with the love of his life, Kathy, in eternal peace.

Al was born on 8 June 1938 in New Cross, during the blitz. He was the only child of Mildred and Henry Lacy. Although, little at the time he recalled hearing the bombs overhead and the devastation they caused. His was a tight knit family and although he did not have siblings, he had many cousins, who lived close by and with whom he grew up with.

Although the war had an impact on his education and he left school at age 15, he craved knowledge and had a love for books and especially loved history. He had a passion for nice cars and had a great knowledge of them and their workings. He also loved his boxing and we understand he could hold his own very well, back in the day. Looking at him, this would not surprise you, he was an upright and imposing figure, who never stooped.

He forged a good career in the Power Station but changed career in his fifties, when he began working for the Courts, he knew every judge by name and loved his time there.

He met his love, Kathy in the late eighties, and wooed her by taking her out in his new Mercedes and going for meals, which was a favourite pastime for both of them. They married on Kathy’s birthday in 1992, when Al was 53 and Kathy turned 44.

Al and Kathy bought a caravan at New Beach holiday park in Dymchurch, they travelled down every Friday night and came back on the Sunday evening. The absolutely loved it and so did we all !! There was generally always a visit from some member of the family when they were there.

He was an extremely generous man, who was very loyal to those he loved. He was the type of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone and have a rapport. He absolutely loved being social.

Unfortunately he was left bedridden in the last few years of his life, which cut down his social circle quite a bit but he then had his carers, who he loved as family and was also looked after and supported by his godson Tony and his wife Lisa, who took over the other aspects of his care.

He is now reunited with his beloved Kathy but will be sorely missed. Sleep tight Al - love you.
