Irmgard was in the words of her sons Ben, Alex and Chris, ‘a badass German woman in Hospitality, next level cook, incredible host and inspirational human with no BS. The best, imperfect mother.’

As an outsider she took no shit, was plain speaking and learnt empathy with incredible patience and wisdom for enjoying life.

Energy like hers couldn’t burn brighter. She loved nature, the garden, and the pets that knew she was the alpha. Many she saved and gave an incredible life and love… even home cooked meals!

In Irmgard’s own words, her and late husband Barry, were a team in every way. Throughout there life together there were the tenderest moments hugging in the kitchen, fiery separation and eventual embracing once more with true love.

Her sons rarely heard of their mum talking about regrets. If you told her she couldn’t do it. She would do it. If she had a dream, she made it a reality and helped support others in their vision with an honest opinion. Sometimes with colourful words.

‘Get off your arse and just do it then’. Famous words many would of heard.

We lost time we could have spent more of with Irmgard.

We never seem to have enough time. But you can’t buy it back, exchange it and once it’s gone it’s gone.

Spend time with those that matter. Season your life with characters and energy that can add flavour. Don’t get caught up in yourself...

And play great music, grab a drink, eat epic food and enjoy life in good company. That was her life. Our mum, Irmgard x

So sorry I can't attend tomorrow but I'll be thinking of you all. Irmgard is greatly missed during dog walks in the Westhumble field and woods. She was a special lady with such a positive outlook.

Although we were not able to spend tons of time together, we got to know Irmgard as an enriching, heartwarming and super funny person. She will be missed in many ways. The believe that this life is not the end gives us hope to laugh together one day again.

We are so sorry for your loss Ben & Alex

Many pleasant hours have been spent over the past few years chatting on dog walks in the field at Westhumble. Irmgard was always upbeat and ready to talk and to listen.

Our spaniel Mollie adored her; she had the best treats - ham, sausage, cheese! Mollie doesn’t move much these days but she would run across the field to Irmgard & Rudy.

Your mum will be much missed by the dog-walking community here. May she rest in peace.

What a woman! Having worked for her when i first came to Dorking some 25 years ago and friends from then on, she was a truly amazing woman who will always be in my memories. 25 years of friendship was not enough and you will be truly missed.
