In loving memory of Richard John Body who sadly passed away on 9th May 2023.
Richard was an exceptional man, and his life was a true inspiration to many. As a son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, he lived a life filled with love and devotion to his family. He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Rachael, his two sons, Ashley and Liam, and his six grandchildren: Danielle, Jade, Marlie, Darcie, Elise, and Cameron.
Richard was a true pillar of his community as a passionate councillor for Cradley and Wollescote. He dedicated his life to raising thousands of pounds for charity and helping those in need.
His love for running was evident in the many marathons and ultra-marathons he completed, pushing himself to achieve greatness whilst suffering from severe arthritis. One specific challenge was running 101 miles in 26 hours around a 1.08-mile loop raising money for children’s playground equipment at Homer Hill Park. After years of pain, Richard underwent total knee replacement surgery on both legs. On his new knees, one of Richard’s proudest running achievements was completing the Beacons Way 100 mile ultra 8 weeks after his left knee revision surgery.
Richard's passion for music and languages was contagious, and he even sang at Johnny Cash's grave, a testament to his confidence. His entrepreneurial spirit was also evident, founding multiple businesses throughout his life, including RJB Pine and RJB Picture Framing.
Richard loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking his dogs and exploring nature. He was an avid traveller, exploring the world with his wife, Rachael. He was passionate about learning new languages, including Welsh and French.
Richard was a selfless man who always put others before himself, and his kindness and generosity will be missed by many.
Richard's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew him. His dedication to helping others, his love for his family, and his passion for life will inspire all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing to all who loved him.
Richard always used to say "what you do is way more important than what you say". Even in his final hours, he was raising money to support local children through building a children's pump track in Homer Hill Park, Halesowen. The pump track is a cycle, scooter and skateboard track for all ages, complete with slope, humps and fun cornering. Rachael, Ashley & Liam intend to see his hard work come to fruition and have agreed that 100% of any donations kindly given will go towards funding the track. Thank you in advance for any donations; your money will make a great difference. Simply copy the following link and paste into your web browser. Thank you.
