I first met Alan in Gravesend in the early 1980s when I joined the 'Schlimmers' with our annual trips to France. More recently he introduced Pat and I to indoor bowls. He was very proud of his family, in his company laughter was never far away and I am proud be able to call him my friend.

Deepest Condolences to Ann and family from Lee and Neal Carter. We remember Alan introducing our Dad Jim to bowling at Chatham bowling club and also to smoking a pipe, which drove our Mum Anita up the wall. Alan was a lovely man and is greatly missed.

Uncle Alan - Thank you for being a wise, kind, fun, funny, calm, supportive constant in my life. I will miss you enormously - especially your signature "serious look" immediately followed by a cheeky smile.

I remember Alan as a child visiting Martin. In the garden in his shorts and shirt. His gardening methods seemed to involve significant pipe smoking. Friendly, funny, and modest. A real gentleman.

Alan, a gentleman who always had a cheeky answer for everything. A wonderful husband and father. If you didn’t have your pipe in your mouth then it was an umpires whistle. You and Ann were a ‘team’ but your biggest team was Rochester Netball Team. I and all the girls will miss you dearly. Rest now in the peace you deserve. Kim x

Remembering “Lord Chatham”, his kind wit, the twinkle in his eye and his incredible support for Ann’s work and volunteering. A lovely gentleman who I will miss being teased by during our annual get-together. Much love to Ann and all the family, “Lady Bath” x
