Believe it or not, I first met Michael in 1968! We worked together at AEI Cables in Gravesend. We soon became friends and I got to know his parents very well too! In the early days we used to do pub crawling once or twice a week! We had a lot of fun and Michael’s sense of humor and unique catch phrases had me in stiches! He knew how to pull my leg, but in a hilarious way. I emigrated to Canada in 1973 and then to Los Angeles in 1998. Michael, Julie and Peter visited me a couple of times and I always dropped by to see them whenever I was in the UK. We had a friendship stretching over 55 years and I shall miss seeing Michael whenever I stop by Blighty again! If there is a Heaven, I bet he will be joking around and pulling people’s legs just like on earth! So long best friend!

It is with great sadness to learn of Mike’s passing. Mike’s passion and sense of humour were always in abundance, as was his guidance and wisdom.

My thoughts and condolences to Julie and family.

With best wishes,
Geoff xx

We will constantly be reminded of all those small but significant sayings and gestures that made you the character you were, such as ‘spinning the plates’ and the wink as though it was our private joke - but it never was!
1947 was a good year to be born apparently, apart from the harsh winter- Charlton won the FA Cup, the transitor was invented and GeorgeVI was on the throne and of course you were born. All of these events enhanced the world in which we live. Your kind sensitive, warm-hearted nature, able to laugh at your own jokes made for a happy life. As you said on many occasions ‘I’ve had a good life’ So, we’re happy for you Michael. You’ll never be forgotten- God rest.

Sadly I’ve only known Michael for the past year but reading through some of the messages Michael’s real personality still came through. I sensed his kindness, he often had a cheeky smile and showed his sense of humour. Michael will be sadly missed xxx
