Philip Andrew Richardson - Wood (4 Jul 1974 - 10 May 2023)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of Philip Andrew Richardson - Wood who sadly passed away on 10th May 2023. Philip came into the world on 4 July 1974.. He was a very loving and caring child. He attended St Andrew's Primary School after which he went on to Gosforth school finishing his school life at Henry Fanshawe. He went on to complete a 5 year apprenticeship with Powerminster. He had a change of career during his twenties where he joined Peugeot car rentals.. Also during his 20s Philip joined the Police Force as a special constable from which he gained great satisfaction helping the youths of Dronfield. He spent many happy years spending his evenings working in the hospitality industry which was his real passion. After Philip and Nicola married Philip opened his own pub in the centre of Chesterfield and spent many hours renovating this.Sadly after five years the marriage broke up and although Philip was devastated he brushed himself down and started again. He was always positive no matter what life threw at him. He went to the job centre saying he would take anything, he just needed to work. They offered him a job on a chicken farm which Philip being Philip accepted. He had to go back the next day to collect his boots. He was told a job had just come in as a Traffic Warden. Philip felt this might be the lesser of two evils. He started work pounding the streets of Derbyshire. Very shortly afterwands he was promoted to Supervisor swiftly followed by a move to Lincoln as Manager and troubleshooter. After he had got Lincoln back in the black he was moved to Woverhampton to do the same. Sadly in 2018 on the evening of the beast from the east his parents received a telephone call to say Philip was seriously Ill and they should go to Stoke hospital where if Philip survived he would be airlifted to. He did survive the journey and all the family stayed at the hospital overnight during which the Surgeon performed a 10 hour operation. The family were told on several occasions there was very little hope of his survival. Philip had a further two life saving operations and was in an induced coma for 12 weeks during which time he suffered pneumonia, sepsis, and a stroke. This wasn't going to stop Philip. He fought his way back to life and his determination paid off. The family were so so proud of Philip. He moved to Ollerton to be close to his family where they were able to make many happy hours. Philip took up a position with Customer Services which he put his heart into. The family are so grateful for the extra five years they had with their courageous Philip.
Sadly on 10 May 2023 he lost his fight. Philip was the best of the best. He can now rest easy he so deserves that rest. A brave and courageous man who was loved and respected by so many. A true people person who will be sadly missed.
