Norman Baker (17 Apr 1944 - 30 Apr 2023)

In loving memory of Norman (Nobby) Baker who sadly passed away on 30th April 2023

Nobby was a well known and well respected person in the village where he was born and grew up, Westcott. In fact, he lived there for most of his life until he moved to Rickwood Park around 8 years ago.

My Dad was the owner of the newsagents in Westcott which was formerly known as Gears. He was there for a good 30 odd years before selling up to Mr and Mrs P.

He did continue until 2020, to deliver the papers and serving occasionally in the shop.

He was also, bar steward/manager at the Westcott Village Club for again, many years.

He was also a keen sportsman and was quite good at most sports he turned he hand to.
Cricket, football, golf and bowls.

Regarding his football, not only did he play, he was a qualified referee and coached/managed the local youth team, the Westcott Wizards.

Nobby will be sadly missed by myself and my family. He was especially proud of his grandchildren Dean and Michaela.

Finally on a happy note, my Dad was also renowned for his appearances as Elvis.
This is one of the many things I will treasure and sorely miss about my father.
