John Peter David (25 Jul 1943 - 17 Apr 2023)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of John Peter David who sadly passed away on 17th April 2023
John was a kind, generous and loving man.
He is the son of Roderick and Jacqueline David, brother to two wonderful sisters and aunties Judith and Barbara and brother in law to Gary.
He was loving and thoughtful husband to Pat and a doting father to Martin and Karen and very proud to be dad number two to Myra and father in law number two to Tony.
He has seven grandchildren Thomas, Anna, Alice, Elio, Megan, Robbyn and Fynlea who all love him very much.
He worked for many years as a civil engineer for McGregor's and then later started a business sub contracting labour, then went on to finish his working life at Nottinghamshire county council again in a civil engineering role but this time as a foreman and overseer of different road works.
He worked hard all his life but always found time for his family no matter what.
He loved to travel, especially to Tunisia and then more so Egypt where he and his wife spent many a holiday at the Tabor Heights hotel making many very good friends along the way.
He loved football, mainly Mansfield town and Wolverhampton wanderer's. Going to football matches whenever he could and even going to Wembley with Mansfield Town in the late 80's. He even gained a certificate for his support over the years.
He loved his fish, building ponds and pottering in the garden even though on occasions he would leave the weeds and dig up the plants. His gardening skills extended to growing tomatoes, cucumbers, and green beans with he loved to do and also enjoyed to eat.
He had a passion for classic rock, country and westerns and action movies but also loved Blondie, Belinda Carlisle and even the Spice Girls, his favourite being Baby Spice.
He was extremely independent and very organized but didn't mind a bit of caos at times.
He lived in Mansfield in his early years, then moved around due to work including Newport Pagnell and even Australia and other places in between.
He was happy to be at home with family but wasn't adverse to a bit of adventure.
He loved his laptop, which he spent quite a bit of time on, playing cards and doing his online shopping and just surfing the web, looking at posts on Facebook and keeping in touch with people when he couldn't get out and about.
He will be remembered for his quirkiness, sarcasm and strength.
