In loving memory of Major Albert Kenneth Pell who was Promoted to Glory on 22nd April 2023.
Albert was born at the Salvation Army Mothers Hospital in Hackney, to Salvation Army Officer parents. He served God through his ministry as an Officer (minister) for the Salvation Army.
He entered the Salvation Army Training College ‘Sword Bearer’ session in 1955 and was commissioned the following year, serving at Corps in Wales. In 1958 he married Jacquiline at Hadleigh Colony Salvation Army. They went on to serve at appointments across the United Kingdom in Scotland, Kent, Cheshire, London appointments and finally the South of England. Albert retired from the position of Divisional Secretary for the Southampton and Channel Isles Division in February 1996, having completed 39 years and 9 months of active service.
Along the way Albert and Jacquie’s family grew to include one daughter, three sons, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Albert had a lifelong interest in music; amongst other instruments he was an excellent percussionist, euphonium and concertina player. He also enjoyed photography, sailing and gardening.
His parents, Captains Frank and Evelyn Pell, previously served as Salvation Army Missionaries in Kenya. His father Frank travelled to Nairobi in 1922 to establish the work. Evelyn sailed out in 1925 to marry Frank and to continue the work until they had to leave for health reasons, carrying on their appointments in the UK and raising a family.
To that end the family have requested that should anyone wish to make a charitable memorial donation, then monies will be sent in support of The Kenya Trust, of which Albert was a supporter. The Trust supports both the growth of the music ministry, and the social work of The Salvation Army in Kenya.
If you would like to give in memory of Albert by way of Bank Transfer to the trust, please contact the family for account details. If by Cheque, please send to: The Kenya Trust, Fairhaven, Bevere, Worcester, WR3 7RF. Please mark on the reverse of the cheque 'Albert'.
There is also The Kenya Trust Facebook Page where donations can be made, again please reference 'Albert'.
