Selina Samarina (12 Jan 2021 - 9 Apr 2023)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of Selina Samarina who sadly passed away on 9th April 2023 aged 2 at Broomfield hospital.
Selina was born on 12th January 2021 in Chelmsford to parents Stephen and Signe. Selina was their second child, and extra special as she underwent surgery at 2 days old at Addenbrookes hospital, Cambridge and it was later discovered Selina had Downs Syndrome.
Selina was a placid baby who grew into a curious, sociable and extremely loving little girl. She was always the little fashionista who would be found, mostly in a dress with a bow or a pretty clip in her hair. Selina, as the youngest, was her parent's pride and joy, adored by brother Jack and sister Scarlett and protected by the ever-watchful Saxon, who had a dog's innate sixth sense that Selina was an extra special child.
Selina was a shining light and was surely destined to be a huge personality, both at home and outside of it. With her love of music Selina would surely have been the first on the dancefloor at all school events, probably getting the DJ to turn up the bass and the volume if she followed her daddy's musical tastes! If you were in the car with Selina, you very quickly learned which of the tunes on 'Selina's playlist' were her favourites, she made her feelings known and her favourites would be met with happy, dancing feet and silence. Selina's love of music was clear to all that knew her and she was always keen to join in with the nursery rhymes and songs she grew to love, 'Wind The Bobbin Up' was a particular favourite and Selina knew all the actions that went along with it. When Selina went to her SNAP! group with Mummy she always headed straight to the lady with the guitar who always made sure to ask for Selina's requests.
Steve and Signe couldn't be prouder of her. Scarlett was an amazing big sister to Selina and had recently stood at the front of her class in school and spoke about her little sister to raise awareness around Downs Syndrome. The love that surrounded Selina shone bright and will continue to do so.
Selina grew into a very loving and sociable little girl with many friends at 'Aunty Trish's' and it was clear to see Selina was very excited and happy to go there.
Selina's funeral service will take place on Wednesday 3rd May 2023 at 10.45am at Chelmsford Crematorium.
All are welcome to attend and support Selina's family.
