In loving memory of Doris Ward who sadly passed away on 23rd March 2023, aged 93.
A much loved mother to Geoff and David and grandmother to James, Bradley, and Catherine.
Mum is together again with our father and beloved late husband Harold 'Joe' Ward.
She was born in the rural village of Gunthorpe in 1929, and was an only daughter, spending her childhood growing up alongside the river Trent at the Lock keepers house.
Shortly after the Second World War, mum fell in love with Harold, who had just returned from active service and would often cycle miles to visit him at his work place whilst bricklaying if it was reachable.
She then married Harold and moved to the village of Lowdham and lived there for the remainder of her life.
Mum will be well remembered by younger generations as the school dinner lady, there she spent 15 years, walking the older juniors from the top school down to the infants, for their school meal, and supervising the playground activities.
A memorial service will be held at Lowdham Parish Church on Wednesday 26th April at 2pm, followed by the burial at 3pm.
A reception will be held at Number Sixteen, 16 Market Place, Bingham.
