Cyril La Ronde (21 Jul 1939 - 22 Mar 2023)

In loving memory of our beloved father Cyril La Ronde who sadly passed away on 22nd March 2023 age 83 years.

Early Life

Cyril was Born on 21st of July 1939 in Delices on the Island of Dominica in the Caribbean, his parents Norbert and Francesca also had 10 other children, Albert, George, Mary, Gerald, John, Edward, Peter, Pius, Samuel and Joseph. He grew up on his dads Farm were as well as school he had his farm duties including getting up at 5 in the morning to milk cows.

--Emigration to England--

n 1960 at the age of 20 due to the economic situation in Dominica Cyril joined some of his brothers and emigrated to England. Dad said he cried like a baby for months after he arrived in England. On arriving in England Cyril first moved in with his Brothers who he would spent all of his time with when not working.

--Family--

In 1967 his first son was born Ashley Andrew La Ronde followed by Linda in 1968, David in 1969 and finally Julie in 1970. Cyril has 8 Grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren all of who love and miss him . He is Survived by his Sister Mary and Brother Joseph who live in Dominica and his Brothers John and Pius who live walking distance from dads last home in Park Avenue East Ham.

--Work--

Dad had many Jobs but spent 18 years and Standard Telephone and Cables (now Cable and wireless) . Dad went back to College to train as a Motor Vehicle Mechanic in the late 1970's and worked as a quality control tester for Renault cars UK for many years. His last job before retirement was as a trusted Security Guard for Kesslers Group in Stratford. We remember our dads big bunch of keys and how seriously he took his job.

--Retirement--
Dad retired in 2004 and would spend his time between family and friends, his beloved garden and his favorite pastime watching action movies on TV. Dad had many Friends and was loved by everyone who came into contact with him. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and

--Death--
Cyril had overcome throat cancer in 2003 and 2 heart attacks and remained relativity healthy until 2021 when he was again diagnosed with Throat Cancer. Following many hospital visits and scans his Consultant advised he have Radiotherapy and said they were confident they could beat the cancer. Due to lock downs and waiting lists dad did not get the radiotherapy treatment until October 2022, Following the treatment n despite some swallowing difficulty the consultants initially advised that the cancer was gone and that Cyril would recover in the months ahead.

Despite the doctors advise Cyril was unable to regain his ability to swallow and could only be fed via a stomach tube. Dad did not take well to this and after two periods in Hospital on 24th February his Consultants advised they could not give anymore treatment and that they believed the cancer had spread to his lungs. Dad was admitted to Hospital on that day and would spend the next 3 weeks in Hospital . It had become clear that dad was terminal and was given 2-3 months to live. Despite round the clock treatment and care by his children Dad wanted to be at home and said he was leaving the hospital even if we didn't take him.

Dad had the round the clock care from his children at home but lost his battle peacefully at home in his bed at 6.40 am on Wednesday 22nd March 2023.
