I am so very sad to hear about Kate’s death. I have lots of fond memories of working with her at Corporate Express in Birmingham. She was a genuinely lovely lady, and dedicated wife and mum. I send my heart felt condolences to all of Kate’s family.

In loving memory of Katie Elizabeth Kathurima "Kate" who sadly passed away on 12th March 2023 aged 39 after a short battle with Cancer. Kate is survived by her husband Sammy and children Daisy (12) and Charlie (9).
Born in Codford, a small village in Wiltshire, to parents Helen and Charlie, Kate grew up with her sisters Lynn and Carrie in a close community at The Grove. Growing up Kate enjoyed long walks, bike rides and swimming in the local river.
Kate worked hard from an early age, starting work at 14 in a local pub and developed her interest in the Hospitality sector. She would go on to Study Hospitality Management at the College of Food in Birmingham, where she worked hard and partied harder, meeting some lifelong friends along the way. During these studies she started a work placement in Jersey, where she would meet her husband Sammy.
After dating and working together for a year they got engaged and married in 2006 when Kate had finished her studies. Marrying Sammy, she gained a larger, extended Family based in Kenya with in-laws Gerald, Judith, Edwin and Gitosh. Kate and Sammy lived in Birmingham for the first few years of their marriage working and building a life together. When deciding to start a family in 2010, Sammy and Kate moved to Hedge End to settle down as an ideal place to raise children together. Daisy was born in May 2010 and Kate settled into family life, joining play groups and starting to build friendships with other parents that would become lifelong friends and an extended family.
Charlie was born in July 2013 and was quickly followed by a move to Bursledon Road which would become a social hub for friends and family, with many BBQ's and parties held in the house. It was a family home where anyone was welcome.
Kate was a social butterfly and would make friends wherever she went. She had a strong bond with her work colleagues at Innovation Group where she had worked for 12 years, with school and football parents but most importantly she was a dedicated wife and mother. Dedicating her life to Sammy, Daisy and Charlie and their happiness and well-being. Kate enjoyed family holidays whether it be trips to Kenya or the yearly UK based holiday with Husband, Mum, Dad, Children, Sisters, Brothers in laws, Nieces and Nephews. Kate had just taken up paddle boarding as a hobby and had treated herself to a board that she was looking to forward to using over the summer. Most especially she enjoyed spending time with her family whether it being watching YouTube with the kids, hosting parties or watching Charlie play football.
The funeral is to be held at 1pm on Friday 21st April at the Salisbury Crematorium with a celebration of life at the Codford Village Hall afterwards. It is requested by the family that there not be any flowers but instead donations to Mountbatten Hospice whose staff treated Kate with such care, compassion and dignity in her last few days.
