Doreen Booth (24 Apr 1931 - 13 Feb 2023)

In loving memory of Doreen Booth who sadly passed away on 13th February 2023

Born and brought up in Manchester, Doreen was always a northern lass at heart. She played the piano and met John, her husband, through their love of music - and also through Doreen's brother Tony! They all played in a dance band called the Silver Rockets.

Doreen trained as a dress maker and a little later changed her career and became a hairdresser. Over her working career as a hairdresser she owned three different salons and also taught hairdressing in Manchester. Doreen loved gardening and did a City and Guilds in flower arranging.

Both Doreen's daughters had settled away from Manchester, Pauline in Devon and Christine in Essex. After John died, Doreen moved to Essex to live near her daughter Christine. She lived there for around 18 years. During that time she got involved various local clubs, often involving ballroom dancing. There she met Ken, who was her partner for over 20 years. They both moved to Surrey in 2011, to be nearer family, including Christine and also her brother Tony.

When she died, at the age of 91, Doreen had five grandchildren and also 5 great-grandchildren.
