In loving memory of Ann Stephens who sadly passed away peacefully at home, on 6th March 2023, surrounded by the family that she loved, after a short illness.
Although a very private lady, Ann was a very familiar face on the Island. She worked at Woolworths for many years, at Dens fish and chip shop, Jones corner, and behind the bar at the British legion. She was also a very successful Avon lady, winning many awards, which is quite surprising given she never wore any make up herself!
She leaves behind her husband David, her two daughters, Toni and Kerry, and her three grandchildren, Jamie, Jake and Robbie
In 2022, Ann and David celebrated 60 years of marriage, their diamond wedding anniversary. She was delighted to receive a card from the Queen to mark this amazing milestone, which stands pride of place at home.
Ann was a very active person, right up until the end, and loved nothing better than a trip to Southend, to walk along the front, have a nice lunch, and a cheeky Rossi ice cream.
Rest in peace Ann, mum, nan - we like to think you are tucking into a 99 wherever you are xx
We wanted to update everyone that we raised £620 for Fair Havens during the service. This is in addition to the donations received on this page. We cannot thank you enough for your generosity, and know that this money will do so much good for other families in the future. Xx

Thank you all for your your kind words, memories and donations. We are truly humbled as a family, to see so much love for Ann (mum), and we know that Fair Havens Hospice are also incredibly grateful for the monies raised.
The funeral will take place on 5 April 2023.
In terms of dress code, Mum always said as long as people are smart, she didn’t mind what colour clothing was worn - so you are free to choose whatever your preference.
The funeral cars will leave Ann’s home of nearly. 50 years, 6 Stanford Road, Canvey Island, SS8 0DG at 10am. You are welcome to follow the procession from there.
The funeral will be held at Basildon Crematorium, Church road, Bowers Gifford, Basildon, SS13 2HG and the service will commence at 10.30am.
After the service, please join us at the Gunn pub, London road, Bowers Gifford, Pitsea, SS13 2DU to celebrate her life. We have reserved the Jasmine room.
It was mums wish that there be no flowers, and any donations in lieu of flowers, be made in her name to Fair Havens hospice, whose amazing carers looked after her so well, in her final days. There will be a collection box at the service, if you prefer.
Please do confirm your attendance via this page, so that we can finalise numbers for catering.
