Dear Hilary,
I have just left hospital in London with a replacement knee to find a message telling me of your sad loss. As you know, John, Mike and I were at Red Hill School together before joining Ashville. I remember saying I would not go to boarding school unless John came with me!
I know John has not been well recently but the loss of both John and Mike in a relatively short time is a personal blow. To you and the family it is much more and I want you to know I share your grief and I hope you can find comfort in a long life and a marriage to be proud of. I shall be thinking of you.
Attendance at John’s funeral is clearly impossible but I shall be there in spirit.
