Funeral Director
In loving memory of Martin Gregory Bottom, a much loved husband, dad/step-dad and grandad who sadly left us on 25th February 2023.
Martin had an enthusiasm for life seldom seen. He was always happy and positive and took pleasure from the simple things in life. He was humble and self-deprecating but loving, generous and caring with the biggest heart imaginable. He saw the best in everyone and always put others before himself.
He had a bright and vibrant personality and loved the things in his life to match. He loved bright colours and was known for his ‘jazzy’ shirts, stylish shoes and his yellow cars. He had his own style and wasn’t afraid to follow it.
Martin was very driven and worked extremely hard. He set up and ran his own business for 30 years and treated everyone he dealt with with respect and honesty and his reputation reflected this.
He played squash several times a week for over 35 years and loved to keep fit and active. He also loved walking in the Dales, travelling and ice-cream!
He was an avid motorcyclist. From the age of 12, he had 3 part-time jobs and saved his money to buy his first moped when he was 16. He travelled much of Europe on his bike and particularly liked visiting the Italian Lakes. Riding through the Alps on his BMW tourer was an experience not to be missed. He was also a huge fan and follower of the Moto GP and the Tour de France cycle race and loved reading the autobiographies of all the different riders.
He has left a hole in our lives that no one can ever fill. He was just such a special soul, one of a kind and a true gentleman! RIP we will love and miss you forever xxxx❤️
For the funeral we are asking everyone to please wear a yellow flower and/or a bright shirt if you have one. 🌻🌼
We are asking for family flowers only please but donations in lieu of flowers can be made via the JustGiving link at the top of the page for the Air Ambulance. The Air Ambulance rely solely on donations to operate and carry doctors and more drugs than the paramedics so can make all the difference in an emergency. They gave us an amazing response and we are grateful for all the efforts they made to help Martin. Thank you x
