Our wonderful father, Peter Stephen Hill, sadly passed away unexpectedly on 1st October 2015. We would love you to be present at the funeral of our father, to remember his life and celebrate his presence, but if you cannot be here please feel free to leave a donation to our chosen charity, Crohns and Colitis UK. Please feel free to leave memories, leave a donation, and mark yourself as attending the funeral. Please feel free to wear whatever you like to my dad's funeral - whatever makes you think of the happy memories you shared with him. The wake will be held at The Barley Mow in Hartford after the ceremony. Please don't hesitate to contact either myself (Siân) or my sister Stephanie for anymore funeral details.

I went out with Peter when I was about 16. I was still at school and he must have been 17 because he was driving. He was the first boyfriend I had with a car which scared the life out of my Mum and Dad. We would go down to the Bull at Broxbourne most evenings and mix with the likes of Chris Hawkins, Chris Gray, and Tony Cox. These are just the names that spring to mind. Peter was the person who got me in to rock bands and he took me to Charlton Athletic Football Club in 1976 to see The Who among other bands. We spoke about this recently with fond memories and Peter recalled how it was pouring with rain most of the time and we were both soaked through and covered in pink dust from the asphalt. He tried desperately to get me interested in bands such as Korn but I'm afraid our taste in music was very different in our 50's.
I am very saddened by his passing. He was a true gent when we were going out and will always remain in my thoughts as one.

Peter’s mother was my cousin, so that made him my first cousin once removed. I remember him as a little boy, football mad even then, who loved to play in goal. His dad used to play for Bromley F.C. and I can still see Peter, at about 7 years old, getting his dad to shoot balls at him. No matter how hard, or perhaps I should say, softly they were kicked, Peter had to dive for it – he couldn’t just stop it with his feet or simply bend down to stop it dribbling in to the goal.

One Christmas – our families always had Christmas dinner together at his maternal grandparents – I wrapped his present in so much Scotch tape (Cellotape) I thought it would take him at least 10 minutes to open it. Did I say minutes? It turned out to be 10 seconds.

His Facebook posts often had my wife and I in stitches; he had a wonderful, mischievous sense of humour, and was one of the earliest fans of Monty Python, which perhaps explains a lot . . .

He was also a Tottenham Hotspur supporter – by the luck of birth you have no choice in our family – and I’ll be cheering for both of us when the Lillywhites, which, coincidentally, is also the nickname of Bromley F.C., play.

I now live in Canada and had invited Peter to come and visit, but his finances didn’t allow for it, so it’s a pleasure both of us will now not have.

Rest in Peace, Peter. We all loved you and you'll surely be missed. Give your mum a hug from me.

Peter was my second cousin and growing up I thought he was amazing. Our families spent quite a lot of time together and Pete was always the one to climb the highest tree, jump off the highest diving board and have the most fun. He was also kind and loving and never left me out although I was younger than him and probably a nuisance following him round! As we grew older we shared a love of Spurs although our musical tastes were a bit different and I remember evenings with him and our parents playing endless games of cards.
My heart goes out to Sian and Stephanie on the tragic loss of their lovely dad, he will be sadly missed.
Lindsey

To Peter's daughters. Peter was my cousin and my parents (Malcolm and Camilla) and my brother and I were extremely shocked and saddened to hear of your loss. Unfortunately we won't be able to attend the funeral - my parents are not very well themselves. Please accept this donation in memory of Peter we send our condolences and best wishes. xxx
