In loving memory of Edna Pratt who sadly passed away on 5th October 2015 after a short illness.
Edna was born in Doncaster, England in 1924, the eldest child of Joe and Alice Stocks. She spent the war years training to be a teacher, and thereafter spent many years instilling grammar, spelling and arithmetic into primary school children in Harrogate, first at Western , then at Pannal and finally at Killinghall.
She married Arthur in 1946, and their daughter Alison was born in 1954.
She was a kind and loving grandmother to Katy and Suzy.

  • Great photo. I believe that was at our house in Harrogate. We had a UN party every year and Arthur and Edna also had a creative costume!

Dear Alison and family,
We knew Edna and Arthur well when we lived in Harrogate several years ago, and they were like surrogate grandparents to our children. We shared holidays with them both, and enjoyed walking the Dales with them. They truly changed our lives for the better. We were so sorry to hear the news of Edna's passing, as it closes a chapter in our lives. She brought joy to those who knew her, and was a caring and giving person whose company we always enjoyed. At last she is with her beloved Arthur again. At a time like this, it is natural to think of how she died. But focus rather on how she lived. You will find it a much better tribute. God bless her, and God bless you all. In deepest sympathy, Trum and Linda Soule

We are so blessed that we stopped to see Edna when we visited N. Yorkshire last December. Arthur and Edna were a blessing to us, in so many ways. We will continue to remember them every time we use their recipes for Yorkshire puddings and sticky toffee pudding. Peace and blessings be with Alison and the whole family during this time.
