Dear old Norman/Normski/Grandad Norm sadly passed away on Tuesday 10th January. He fought an incredibly long and challenging battle with cancer spanning 13 years. He was brave right to the end.
Incredibly he defied the odds when originally diagnosed, having been given only six months to live at that time. His strength, courage & sheer determination meant he had many precious extra special years with his beloved wife “Lindy Lou” who he cherished so much.
As Norman became more poorly after receiving a terminal diagnosis late last Summer, he continued to focus all of his energy on looking after Linda in any way that he could. He always put her first, and loved her very dearly. It was fitting that in his very final moments, as he lost his tough battle, Linda was able to share memories of a favourite song “Goodnight Sweetheart”. A song that we will all forever remember Norman by.
A life long Gills supporter, Norman even listened to the scores of the match last Saturday against Leicester, with his hat, scarf & shirt on his hospice bed. Struggling with his fast declining health, he was at least able to engage in one final game, bless his heart.
Grandad Norm was dearly loved by his grandchildren and they will sadly miss the fun times that they all shared and his cheeky humour. They all carry with them very happy memories - including days out at the seaside and some scary (very) Halloween parties!
Rest in peace Norman. You were a legend, a warrior and a fighter in equal measure xxx
The funeral will be held at Bobbing Crematorium near Sittingbourne at 4pm on Tuesday 31st January.
Rather than send flowers, the family would love donations to be made to Macmillan or the Wisdom Hospice - two fantastic causes. Thank you xxx
