In loving memory of Sandra Spicer who sadly passed away on 25th December 2022. Mum was born on the 15th January 1945 to Alice and Sid Fisher. She grew up on Maidstone Road, Wigmore with her older sister Gloria. As a child mum loved the outdoors, and this passion continued in to her adult life with her love of gardening. She married Les Spicer and together they set up home in Castlemaine Road. Together they moved to Singapore for work where their eldest daughter Lynne was born in 1971. This time was often reflected upon with fondness, and was clearly one of the most enjoyable times of her life. On returning to the UK their second child Alan was born in 1973. The family lived on Wigmore Road until the early 1980's when they moved to Leighton Buzzard. Sandra always had a strong work ethic and a guiding sense of right and wrong. Her work as a loss prevention officer saw her regularly tackling criminals without fear, often in violent situations. This moral courage later saw her as a volunteer for the court service as a witness care officer. In this role she helped many witnesses in the daunting task of giving evidence, and offered them reassurance throughout. Sandra also assisted at her childrens schools on the PTA's offering help at many events. She also volunteered at the Leighton Buzzard Air Training Corps, an organisation giving youngsters the chance for adventure and to develop. In this role she took part in many events, including expeditions to the Isle of Mull where she took parts in hikes and exploration to develop the cadets. Lynne later married Darren, and Sandra became a grandmother first to Stephen and then to James. A loving grandmother, she was heavily involved in their lives from the start. She later took the whole family to Disneyland Florida to experience the holiday of a lifetime together. The family extended when Alan married Jo, which then brought Daisy in to the family. Sandra lived life according to her rules and values, and was free in her love to those she cared for. She travelled to Australia several times to visit her sister Gloria and her husband Harry who she had always kept in touch with. She loved her Australian family and kept up to date with the activities and growing up of Robert, David and Kerry. To all those lives that she touched she will be remembered with love and affection. We will all miss her infectious smile, her laugh, her sense of humour, and her indomitable spirit.
