In loving memory of John Brendan Clarke (79) - known to all as “Bren”
Born in Saltcoats, n. Ayrshire, Scotland 03 March 1943.
Died in Poringland, Norfolk, England 12 December 2022.
Much loved Father to Caroline, Elaine, Paul and Lisa.
Proud grandfather to Betty, Harvey and Felix and recent great-grandfather to beautiful Birdie.
Devoted brother of Elita.
Now at peace with his wife carol.
Bren joined the RAF in 1958 at the age of 15 as a Boy Entrant. He undertook his training at RAF Halton before embarking on a career as an engineer working on aircraft including Whirlwind Helicopters, Buccaneer, Phantom, Hawk and Tornado.
He led an adventurous life and toured around the world to places such as Kuching (Borneo), Cyprus, Germany, Falkland Islands, Bahrain and Goose Bay (Canada); as well as being stationed across Great Britain.
It was while on R&R at Kuching that Bren took a trip to Singapore where he met his wife to be, SAC(W) Carol Armstrong. They were married in August 1968 and were together for 52 years.
Bren retired from the RAF on the 3rd December 1997. He moved to Scarborough where he worked as a Manager at Dales Engineering and then finally as a Warehouse Manager at the Plumb Centre in Scarborough. He retired completely and moved to Poringland in November 2014 to be nearer to family. He became a devoted and full-time carer to Carol until her passing in 2020. Bren was never the same after the loss of Carol.
Throughout Covid, he was fortunate to have local support from his children; he embraced new smart technology and remained close to his sister Elita in America with daily face time chats on Whatsapp.
After fighting hard and winning his battles with cancer, we lost him unexpectedly in December 2022 following a short illness.
He will be sadly missed.
