Vincent (Alton) Sutherland
Vincent as born in Rolling River ST Thomas, Jamaica 23rd April 1937.
In his early teens in Jamaica following school , he left for Florida USA, where he got a job for several seasons cutting sugar cane.
Vincent was always a family man and sent most of his earnings back home to ensure his parents and siblings had food on the table.
He came to the United Kingdom in the early 1960 ‘s and joined his brother and brother in law working down the pit at Gedling colliery.
He remained employed at the colliery until he retired.
Since his arrival in the UK Vincent formed a network of loyal and lifelong friends, anyone who met Vincent will confirm that he was a devoted and loving Father, grandfather Brother, Uncle and friend. He was always caring and giving, nothing was too much trouble for him.
He was a true gentleman quiet, loving and always there if every you were in need, he would endeavour to do his utmost to help.
He will always be remembered for his kindness and gentle manner and his mischievous sense of humour.
A true gentlemen Rest in Peace you will never be forgotten
