In loving memory of Nicholas "Nick" Ginger who sadly passed away on 2nd December 2022.
Nick was born on the Isle of Wight to Edward and Amelia, the second oldest of four boys. He lived in Ventnor with his parents and brothers; John, Lyle and Michael.
Nick was into sports and mischief; soon joining the army cadets. After leaving school, he joined the Royal Navy and followed a path in electrics alongside being selected for an athletic role in the Window Ladder Display Team. He fondly remembered appearing on Blue Peter; meeting the famous dog Shep before heading on to Pebble Mill at One.
After leaving the navy, he was in Southampton continuing his electrical studies when he set eyes on a lady in the Top Rank night club. Her name was Valerie. After dating for a little while, Nick was certain he had found his soul mate and proposed.
Nick married Valerie and they bought their first home together in Dibden Purlieu. Then along came the children, Maria, David then Andrew.
Nick continued to work as an electrician and they enjoyed family life until Valerie sadly passed to cancer, leaving behind Nick whom was 45 at the time to continue raising the children.
He was a devoted Dad and after some hard times, had a fresh start in Shirley. He took up an electrical role at Southampton General Hospital. He loved his job and enjoyed being part of the NHS family.
As the years passed Nick became a Grandad. He welcomed Dylan, Theo, Alyssa, Ethan and Sophia. Sadly Ethan was too precious for this world and passed away as a baby.
Having grandchildren gave Nick a new lease of life and reignited his sense of fun, magic and mischief. He adored them all and spoilt them rotten.
Nick’s hobbies in later life included drone flying; for which he got himself a license. He also enjoyed sea fishing and had a taste for whiskey.
He had many plans for once he reached retirement but sadly that was not to be. He has however given the precious gift of life to others as he donated his organs and we have already heard that a lady is doing well as a result.
Sleep peacefully Dad. All our love, Maria, Dave, Andy, Dan, Josie, Dylan, Theo, Alyssa and Sophia xxx
