Margaret welcomed us to St Andrew's many years ago when we were newly married. She was kind, direct and practical - totally trustworthy. She always looked so young and beautiful. I will miss her.

That photo says it all. I met Margaret when I joined St Andrew's in 1989 and she was always consistently gentle, encouraging, good humoured and smiling. That is not to say that she was a shrinking violet for she would speak her mind but that too was always delivered with great sensitivity.
Margaret made the world a better place and leaves it the better to go to the better one that awaits. My thoughts and prayers for those who mourn as well as give thanks for a life so well lived. Michele

I met and have known Margaret due to our membership of St Andrew's Church Nottingham, so I only really saw her on Sundays for the best part of 27 years. However through my chats with her over the years I grew to love her in more and more ways. Such a gentle soul with a passion for everyone, especially young people.

She also had a soft spot for my husband, Steve, in whom I think she found a kindred spirit (gentleness). He passed away a few years ago but he was someone I would remember to her when we chatted more recently.

I visited her in July 2022 with my 1 year old grandson Alfie and she, as expected, greeted him with such joy and wonder. In fact they both seemed rather taken with each other and spent about an hour gazing at each other, playing quietly, and holding hands. Some things unspoken speak the loudest.

I am very glad to have known Margaret and she has helped shape my own life through her faith and quiet example of so many good attributes. I will miss her but am glad she is now at peace and had lived a good life.

Dear Stephen
We are so grateful that you managed to track us down in deepest Lincolnshire.
We regret having lost contact with Margaret as we moved around the East Midlands in our busy lives.
We knew Margaret as championship standard babysitter of our children when they were young and for the love and kindness she always showed us and them. We think of her and talk about her often.
Such happy memories of our shared lives at St Andrews Church. Sunday School, children’s holiday clubs and Chestnut club with Auntie Ethel her lovely mother. The local children loved them both and Margaret made many little lives richer and more content with her commitment to these countless events.
And finally of course she was secretary at Glade Hill Infants School at Bestwood Park, holding the place together along with us teachers if we were struggling or having a bad day.
She was very efficient, except I remember, for her complete inability to spell diarrhoea. Parents would ring in re absent pupils with very graphic details that had to be recorded properly - yet with sympathy. Funny the things you remember.

She was a very good friend to all our family. Who knew she would live to such a grand old age? Margaret - now promoted to glory. Reunited with her husband Ken and mother Ethel with whom we had such good times and much fun.
Beverley and David Stark.

  • What a beautiful tribute Beverley, thank you for sharing. I've only known Margaret for the last 27 years but this rings so true with my opinion of her from what I came to learn of her and always I love hearing more about her. Nikola (St Andrew's Nottm member and Admin)
