Peter James Morgan (16 Aug 1944 - 11 Dec 2022)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of Peter James Morgan who passed away peacefully after a long period of ill-health on 11th December 2022 at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley.
Pete was born in Birmingham in 1944 and spent his childhood in Handsworth, but lived most of his life in and around Wall Heath and Kingswinford having moved to the Kingfisher Caravan Park with his mother Marge in 1958. His last year at school was at Penzer Street School (now The Kingswinford School) where he met his lifelong friend Derek Bridge. He was a talented artist, and this was recognised early on at school, but he chose to apprentice as a glasscutter at Stuart Crystal in Wordsley. Although he picked this up again in later life he spent years working on building sites (including the MEB offices in Kingswinford, the Birmingham Bull Ring and at Longbridge). Later he was a crane driver in local steelworks (Round Oak, C&S) before finally reverting to the arts and becoming a freelance glasscutter and painter, including painting miniatures as an outworker for Bilston Enamels as well as commissioned pet portraits.
Pete was brother to the late Mary Patricia Morgan, uncle to Jim, Tony, Ian and the late Andy. He was great-uncle to Nicola, Flo, Laura, Joanna and Matthew. He was a great character and will be much missed. His funeral takes place at Gornal Wood Crematorium on Friday 30th December 2022 at 10:20, afterwards at the Horse and Jockey, Wall Heath.
