In loving memory of James William Barratt who sadly passed away on 26th November 2022. A life that started in the bombed out ruins of the east end, through the market stalls he tended with his father. Also was a familiar face with my uncle crooning in the pubs of the east end and singing in some infmaous boozers around those parts.

Then on to the Royal Norfolks in Germany for his national service . While.in norfolk he met and later married our amazing mum Hazel. From there back to the east end where all the family lived under one roof in Percy Road. Dad was working in the city when my sister came into the world.

It was after this that the holiday plots on Canvey ( where the family would go to escape the dirt of London with Jim snr and Amelia) became the place where they would all move to set down roots. A few years later I arrived, unplanned, but never not wanted. From here dad spent many hours either involved with Freemasonry, or with me at the cadets, or doing some charity work at the Conservative club or via the cadets.

Dad loved life and loved to help anyone he could. His laughter would fill the room and was contagious to everyone around him. He loved life and his family. We will forever miss hearing your singing, miss your laughter and that glint in your eye that was always so bright and full of life.

Dad has made many friends over the years and would always make people laugh. He was always smartly dressed, suited and booted and trousers pressed to with an inch of their life. He was a shirt and suit man and never posessed jeans. He was known by people on the Island by his smartness and would always stop to chat wherever he went.

Dad would often be the Santa at the Conservative Club and would enjoy every minute of it. Always willing to help, sing or make people laugh

There is a big void now that you have sadly passed and we will be forever grateful for the memories you gave each and everyone of us

Me and all of our family, friends and those who's life you helped or touched in some way will miss you forever.

Love you dad,and I will never cease to do that❤️
