Brenda I miss you so much; how I looked forward to ordering some shopping from Sainsbury's for you and bringing it up so we could have a "distanced" chat on your doorstep (during Lockdown) and later a coffee either in your sitting room or in your garden. You were always so grateful to me but, really, it was the other way around - I loved the conversations we had and I learned so much from you. My little grandsons loved coming to see you too.
Gracious lady, I hope you are reunited with Keith and in peace now.

Sadly, I was unable to attend Brenda’s funeral, but the video recording of the event gave me further insight into her long and eventful life. Brenda was a much cherished friend, so very considerate and caring with our conversations spanning every imaginable subject. I have been so fortunate to have known her and to have so many fond memories.

From far away in South Africa, it’s hard to realize that my dearest aunt Brenda’s life has run its course. Visits to England will not be the same without her welcoming hospitality, I loved spending time with her. There was always companionship and conversation, news to exchange, flowers in my pretty bedroom, delicious meals and a cavalcade of outings to interesting places. By my bed would be flyers and news items to enrich my time in London. She took a great interest in our life in Africa and visited several times. Dear Brenda was a wonderful person in so many ways, a treasured sister to my father John Hilton (now 104), a role model to me and my son and daughter, but above all deeply loved. Brenda is sorely missed, she certainly left the world a better place.

You were such a wonderful lady , the world is poorer now you are no longer with

It is an honour and privilege to have known and worked for you, tending your garden. It was always a pleasure for me!

Remembering Brenda with great affection, and giving thanks for the enduring friendship between her and Anne Whittingham (nee Nattrass). She made Anne so very welcome at Comp Cottage. The visits and reminiscences about their days at medical school were wonderful to witness. We will always remember Brenda's ready smile, kindness and graciousness.

It’s been a real privilege to have known her, she was an inspiration to all. Such a lovely, kind and caring lady. Brenda will be much missed.

I was so lucky to have known Brenda. For a large part of my life. A true lady and friend to everyone. Farewell you will be missed.

Now that the funeral has been rescheduled we are very sorry that we will be unable to come due to a long-standing previous engagement. We are really sorry about this as we would love to have been to say a final goodbye to our lovely neighbour of many years who we will miss greatly.

Though I only met Brenda infrequently, it was always such a joy to chat with her - she was such an inspiration and was both interested in everything, and so interesting herself. I loved to hear about her amazing achievements in the world of medicine . She will be greatly missed, but has left everyone with the most wonderful memories.

Dear Brenda was such a wonderful lady, who was entirely focused on the person she was with and who made that person feel as if they were the only person in the world. A real trooper, who believed passionately in what she did and was absolutely full of the milk of human kindness. A selfless life, very well lived and a privilege for all who knew her.

Brenda held a very special place in the hearts and lives of her Mortimer family in Canada these many years, and will forever be loved and remembered.
