David Herbert Sheldon (14 Jul 1939 - 29 Nov 2022)

In loving memory of David Herbert Sheldon who sadly passed away on 29th November 2022.

David joined HMS Indomitable Sea Cadets at the age of fourteen. He then enlisted into the Merchant Navy at the age of sixteen. He travelled to many places in Europe, Asia, Australia, Bermuda and the United States.
He met the love of his life -Tina, whilst working at the Oxford Restaurant, Long Eaton in 1976 and they married in 1978. He became a Dad to her four daughters, having been introduced to them as the ‘Sausage Man’ (He delivered the sausages and bacon!)
You could often find him in the Shaftsbury, playing cards and dominoes.
He worked in the Iron Foundry for a few years and then became a security officer at Group 4. All the while supporting his wife, working behind the bar at the Masonic Hall/Cleve Lodge. They worked as a great team, until her death in 2012.
David carried on as a Caretaker for Cleve Lodge, until it became time for him to retire and rest.

David was a loving Dad, Grandad & Great Grandad and will be missed by all who loved him.
