Tony and Jean were always a part of my life due to Jean's long friendship with my mother Helen Robins. Attached is a photo of them taken many years ago with father Roy Robins.
Tony's love of Opera, as everyone here knows, was legendary. The anecdote - such as it is - is that when in his professional capacity he was involved with the refurbishment of the Royal Opera House, he took the once in a lifetime chance to re-carpet his and Jean's house (what a patient lady Jean was) with the Royal Opera House carpet. As he rightly maintained, all the opera greats quite possibly had stood on that exact carpet.
Tony - you are a legend and are greatly missed. Reunited with Jean and the old gang at last, and doubtless attending endless operatic performances conducted by the composers, as I type. Thank you for being a friend.
