Derek Folkard (28 May 1935 - 28 Oct 2022)

DEREK ROY FOLKARD. Derek Roy, of Elmswell, was born in Ipswich, second son of Fred and Rose Folkard, younger brother of Stanley. Educated at Clifford Road, Copleston School and Ipswich Civic College, studying Mechanical Engineering and working at Ransome, Sims and Jefferies for 39 years, with a 2 year break when in National Service. Loving husband to Jean, sharing hobbies of reading, local history, gardening and church life. Derek was Church Warden for 15 years. Following a short illness Derek passed away peacefully whilst in West Suffolk Hospital on 28th October 2022. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Private cremation will take place at West Suffolk Crematorium, Abbey Chapel on Wednesday 30th November at 10:30 a.m. A Thanksgiving Service for Derek's life will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St John the Divine, Elmswell.
