In loving memory of Pamela Joy Udell who sadly passed away on 27th October 2022. She was absolutely unique, had the biggest heart and would go to incredible lengths to help anyone who had need, she will be sadly missed by all who loved her and whose lives she touched.

Her funeral service will be held at Southend Crematorium on the 5th December at 11:20 with a celebration of life to follow at Scott's of Southend garden centre in their event space at 12:00.

We chose a garden centre for her wake as she loved flowers and her garden, and as a family we nearly always went for tea or lunch in one of the local garden centres whenever we saw one another. She would always buy a plant to brighten up an empty patch in the yard or buy gifts for others so this seemed a lovely way of remembering Pam and saying goodbye together.

Please indicate on this page whether you are planning to attend or inform Sam (Pam's daughter) so that we can advise Scott's ahead of time with regard to expected numbers as tea, coffee and a light lunch buffet will be provided.

Pam asked not to receive any floral tributes on the day, rather she would have liked donations to go to the Hospice services that supported her through her final months of life.

I provide a link below to the Scott's page for any needing directions.

Auntie Pam, I’m gutted that you are gone but happy you are now at peace. I love how you lived your life the way you wanted (it’s good to be stubborn right?!) and we are all grateful for the care that you took of Nan as she got older. You deserved some time to yourself after all that.

I always remember my parents telling me how much I loved the t-shirt you got me from New York when I was a toddler, and that I always wanted to wear it. The T-shirt said that I was somebody special, but the message was probably more fitting of the person who bought it than the person who wore it.

I hope that there are horses for you to ride and dogs for you to play with up there..... and that you bump into Nan. She was watching the last time we spoke at your house – I know she was.

Rest in Peace and lots of Love, Ross xxxxxxxxx

So many hours spent putting the world to rights, laughing and joking whilst mucking out and looking after our horses. You were always there to help us all and we loved you for it. So kind and funny as you dashed from place to place, always busy; you will always hold a very special place in our hearts. My lovely friend, I will always miss you. Rest in peace xx

Pam has been my friend now for well over 20 years, from teaching Sam as a child to being stabled at Pam’s yard and 18 years ago becoming a neighbour. We chatted regularly on the phone about the lane in general and horses etc, she was always very helpful and would give you the shirt off of her own back if she could. I will miss our chats and being able to put the world to rights together. Rip Pam , I hope you are having a ball up there . Lots of love, sue x

Pam you will be so missed. You rescued Susie Q and I so many years ago and shared so many lovely memories and times together. Don't think I really appreciated how lucky we were to have you as our friend, we missed you so much when we moved up to Norfolk. Always great to chat to, putting the world to rights, commiserating with our personal woes and animal worries, you were always there for me, I so regret not visiting recently, but then I have the best memories of you, I always was amazed at your dedication and hard work at the stables, one special person.

I have so many memories with Pam, for a big part of my early adulthood she was a best friend, a firm word and someone I really laughed with. Without fail she was always there. I could call anytime and she would say 'its alright Lou, we can sort it out', often with some horsey problem, boyfriend woes or me pushing back on my own parents and her offering the voice of reason.

Pam's mood was dictated by the seasons; winter I think she would probably have liked to hibernate and spring and summer her ultimate favourite, where she could be found digging, banging and generally working on anything she could! The flowers at the yard where beautiful year on year and the veggies she produced were some of the best!

Fiercely independent and strong, yet when you got in to her trust the softest and kindest person you will ever meet... she was so proud when I had my son, she wheeled out the toys on to the yard, religiously bought new ones from the charity shop and enveloped my son in the love and security she had given me over the years and he still talks about her to this day even as a grumpy 13 year old...

Pam, you were one of a kind, I will miss you so much and have so many regrets for not seeing you more over more recent years. I hope you know how loved you are, thank you for everything.
