Always ready with a treat and help of any kind ♥
In loving memory of Patrick Leonard Riley who sadly passed away on 8th November 2022, aged 88 years.
Pat was diagnosed with cancer 40 years ago and only given a couple of years to live. He proved them wrong and had a good long happy life with Wife Judith, daughter Sarah, and later, grandson Freddie. Pat also has a son, Gary and stepson Richard. We know this will be a very hard time for them all.
Pat's time in the Army was as a member of 3 PARA serving his time during the 1950s, and would take part in the last full sized battalion mission during the Suez crisis at El Gamal airfield, taking part in the second drop. What a life! What a man!
After leaving the Army, Pat did a degree in mechanical engineering and worked for a Vauxhall dealership. Even after retirement, he would often be called out to check on road accidents to see if the car was the cause of an accident, as a specialist in his field.
Pat took various roles in Nottingham PRA: Branch Treasurer, carrying the Branch Standard, plus standing in as Chairman and Secretary over short periods. Despite ill health, he continued to support the Branch, amazing everyone with his willpower to carry on as normal.
Pat was a friend to all, with a great sense of humour and a heart of gold. Pat was a true gentleman and an inspiration.
He will be sadly missed by us all.
