Paul John Hobdell (5 Feb 1965 - 6 Oct 2022)

In loving memory of Paul Hobdell a.k.a. Hovis, Big Paul, Hobnail, Hobknob or Pauly-on-the-Wally

After attending Townsend Primary and Walworth Secondary schools Paul became a groundsman. Over time he worked at Southwark Park, Habadasher Askes and his beloved Dulwich Hamlet.

Dulwich Hamlet was his passion. Proven, not only by the many different roles he performed there (Match Secretary, Club Secretary, Comittee Member, Groundsman etc.) and by travelling, as a founder member of 'The Rabble' to grounds near and far but possibly and most tellingly, by insisting that our cat be named 'Hamlet the Piglet' (The 'Hamlet' part stuck).

Under Paul's curmudgeonly exterior lay the heart... of a true curmudgeon. For those allowed to dig deeper, underneath was a sensitive man with a wicked sense of humour.

We invite you all, to share your memories and/or pictures of him and if possible, to join us as we lay him to rest and then to raise a glass to him at Dulwich Hamlet Football Cub.
