John Williams (6 Aug 1936 - 8 Oct 2022)

In loving memory of John Albert Williams who sadly passed away on Saturday 8th October 2022, aged 86 years. Fondly known as Johnny who will be greatly missed by his loving wife Pauline, all his family and everyone who knew him.

The funeral service will take place at Medway Crematorium, East Chapel on Tuesday 8th November 2022 at 1:00 pm.

"Kent & Medway Prehab is a free community-based programme that helps people diagnosed with cancer to prepare physically and mentally for their treatment.

John was the very first person to join the programme upon its inception back in 2018. He needed an operation that was considered too risky for him since he was “not fit enough”. After a few months in the programme John got lighter and fitter and, to everyone’s surprise, when he was finally offered surgery, his tumour was gone and there was no need for an operation. Nevertheless, John kept participating in the programme for months to come, becoming the greatest champion and being an inspirator and motivator to others who also needed to get fitter to get their treatment.

At present, Kent & Medway Prehab supports more than 400 people with cancer per year in Kent and Medway and John played a crucial role in the success of this programme.
