In loving memory of Blondell Alice Shaw who sadly passed away on 4th October 2022.

Blondell was born on 10th September 1960 in Balham maternity hospital, London. She was the youngest child of John and Edith Shaw, and a sister to me, Kathy. We have two older brothers, Mickey and Foster, who live in the Caribbean.

Blondell and I had a very happy childhood growing up first in Battersea south west London, then moving to Sandy in Bedfordshire when buying a house in London was expensive. Growing up in a small village like Sandy, Blondell got to know and had many friends. Riding our bikes around the streets, up to the sand hills and visiting the RSPB.

Starting off at St Swithin’s infant school in Sandy and later to the primary school on Laburnum Road. Her final school days was at Sandy Upper school where she attained her ‘O’ & ‘A’ levels.

Blondell had a varied career but at the heart of it was her natural talent to network, meet and make connections with people. From the start of her career, she grew a love of sales, training and coaching.
She worked for a range of organisations, from multi-national corporates such as Expedia to large national charities. With her drive and ambition, Blondell started her own company which she called “Perfect Fossicking” which means to “ferret out,” to “rummage” or “search around” and that is what she provided as a Business Development Consultant helping organisations to generate new sales.

She would be proud of the legacy she has left as a person who built sustainable relationships, made a difference, introduced discipline to businesses, was brilliant at her work, was a great salesperson and coach and hardworking. I’m sure many of you could add many more accolades.

Some of you may know this, but my sister was fluent in French. As a young woman, she went to work in France as an au pair to a lovely French family. I visited her on occasions and was impressed with the ease in which she was able to converse in the language when out and about in Paris.

Blondell was a sociable person, someone very good at starting a conversation with a stranger, getting to know them, and in a short space of time, becoming friends. Through her dog Virgil, Blondell was welcomed into the dog walking community establishing a great network of friends and acquaintances.
Virgil was a great joy in her life, he’s such a cute pouch.

Having read all the tributes posted on Blondell’s memorial page, it’s clear that she had a profound impact on everyone who met and grew to know her. From the sentiments written, Blondell touched you all. She left a lasting impression on everyone. In that, I know her memory will live on. She has left us with memories we will cherish forever. Thank you.

I have been trying to find the right words (more your area than mine to be honest!) but have been struggling. I don’t think anything can express sufficiently the friendship that we have had over the past 30+ years. Miss you so dearly. Our evenings together putting the worlds to right over a glass or three, my cuddles with Virgil, your trips to Suffolk and your beaming smile. Will treasure those memories forever. RIP my lovely xxx

Blondell, little sis to my dear friend Kathy. Whether we were out playing as children or going ‘out out’ as we got older, she was never far from her big sister. A sisterly bond made even closer when you lost your lovely mum xx

Kathy, I hope you are able take comfort from reading the wonderful and heartfelt comments of Blondell’s friends. Lots of love, Gill xxx

Blondell, was such great fun to work with, always professional and always wanting to put the client first. Her thirst for wanting to learn and improve her knowledge was something I will always remember about her. I miss our chats loads.

Blondell was one of my mum’s best mates, and when I was growing up Blondell was like an aunt to me. She treated me like family.

I haven’t seen Blondell for a long time, but I was so sad to hear about her passing. She meant the world to my mum and her group of friends, and will be sadly missed. My condolences to her friends and family.

A light has truly gone out in the world. Blondell was bubbly and funny; and also wise and clever. So generous with her time and energy. We will miss you Blondell.

Dearest Blondell, we met at Metro Central Heights, you were one of the first neighbours that I became friends with, when I approached you to ask if I pet Virgil. Your immediate warmth and generosity made me feel so welcome, and we struck up an instantaneous friendship. Over the years I got to know you better, walks in the park by Imperial War Museum, a glass of wine, and dinner in your lovely flat. You understood my need to have little furries in my life and always let me walk and play with Virgil, which was such a gift. You were an inspiration to me, in your work ethic, personal conduct, and how you treated people with respect and kindness. You made me laugh with your frank and dry humour and turn of phrase. Not much ever got you down, you were always positive and exuded strength, even when I know there were some dificult times. You were there with good advice. There are few like you my friend, and your departure from this world leaves a big hole. I will miss you greatly. Rest in peace, beautiful lady. Love, Helen xxx

Dear Blondell,

Our lovely, lovely neighbour. You made us understand what it’s like to live in a community. We will miss bumping into you for long chats, your cakes left on our doorstop and glasses of wine on school nights. We loved you and you’ve left a huge hole in this south London community.

This news is so very sad. I will hold dear my memories of Blondell and I sitting in the courtyard during the warm weather in the lockdown, drinking prosecco and discussing politics, dogs and all life’s foibles. She never minded when I swore and taught me her wisdom. I will be forever grateful she was in my life. Bless u dear Blondell and know that Virgil will be loved. Xxx
